What is this?

I am your Shadow is a story set in '94-95, in a slightly stranger-than-normal universe. Most of the people living there don't realize it, and even the people involved with its strangeness can't agree on the what and why of it.

What's going on?

An excellent question. My husband said that after I let him read all of Chapter One. I went back and tried to work in more detail. But characters can't ALWAYS be spouting plot exposition. I am writing this FAQ for details and background that don't fit in the text boxes, so the story can continue.

Who are these people?


Mark

6' tall.
Age: 32.

Not much to say about him, yet.


Cat

4' 10" tall
Age: about 12.
Eyes: blue
Hair: black, badly in need of a wash and a comb.

Boyish girl? Effeminate boy? Niam calls her a girl; we'll presume he knows. She says she is his shadow.

Niam (Niah'ameh)

5'9"
Age: 17

He and his sibs are the grandchildren of the leader of Tirna va. He was frustrated at having no authority there. No outside faction would have him because of his youth and his formidable grandmother, a fortune-teller and sorceress. So he rounded up children of unusual talents and set up his own information network. He tried to create a psychic network so they could all communicate, but it was shaky and easily overwhelmed. Cat was the perfect solution. Instead of processing everything himself, it is all routed through her. There were some failsafes he didn't think to include. When Maya is injured, they are all taken down by her pain and fear, except for Cat. At this point he has angered about everyone.


Scoti (Escoti)

5' 6"
Age: 14

Younger brother of Niam. Has a talent for folding space. Resents being used in his brother's plans.


Maya (Yemaya)

4'
Age: 8

The youngest of the "psychic trio." She shows signs of psychic and fortunetelling ability. Despite her age, Grandmother has declared her heir to Tirna va.

Akio- Mark's friend that he went to meet. Still a mystery.
Grandmother- still a mystery.
Amanda, Georgia, Carrie, Eric, CMYK- children from Niam's little group. Some are dead, others will appear in side stories later on.

What is Tirna va?

Tirna va is a place where wishes come true. Only the desperate find the way there. They get what they came for- for a price. A very dangerous place, unless you happen to live there.
