Because I am not having fun.
That doesn't mean MWF is unimportant to me. I had big ideas for MWF. It was going to be a story where I talked about all the things no one talks about in relation to faeries, like economics and current events and race and where the rent is coming from. I believed enough to go on with it after my writer backed out, even though I am an artist, not a writer. I carried it for two years and about half of the scripted storyline. But I just can't hack it any more.
I used to think it was funny to write little blurbs that mirrored the news. I had a revolution in Faerie pencilled in for a few months from now- on an outline from two years ago. But vainly job hunting, watching the news of bank failures and government buyouts and the volatile market, I realize I may not be far off the mark. And it isn't funny any more.
I was also to a point in the script where I talked about very difficult subjects. The black market, gangs, race. I felt it vital to discuss race, since cute fairy statues and art are so lily-white. But I am unsure of the message and where I wanted to go with it, and my right to discuss it at all, not being a minority. I will write anything I can stand behind, but I don't know what I'm trying to say, only that it's vitally important.
When I feel about writing MWF the same way I feel about a firing squad, it's time to quit. Anyone else wants to pick up the writing end, sure! Love to have you! I have the outline or you can improvise. I'll illustrate.
I am your Shadow will update as normal, with maybe some side story or background thrown in as extras. Maybe some short term side projects as well, while I work on the next big one.
I'll be starting research on an as-yet unnamed tale, but don't expect to see results for about a year. Perhaps you'll understand if I tell you it's the story of King Arthur and Saint Patrick, as written by Dante. Or... maybe you won't. But you can see why such a tale would require a great deal of research....
Thank you all for reading.
